What is stroke? Definition, Sign and Symptoms, investigation, causes and treatment

 A stroke, also known as a cerebrovascular accident (CVA), is a medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to the brain is disrupted. This disruption can be caused by a blockage or rupture of a blood vessel, resulting in damage to brain cells and potentially leading to disability or death. Two types of stroke which are:  ischemic and hemorrhagic.  Ischemic strokes occur when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel in the brain, while hemorrhagic strokes occur when a blood vessel ruptures and causes bleeding in the brain. Symptoms of a stroke include sudden weakness ,numbness on one side of the body, difficulty in speaking , speech problem, vision problems, dizziness, and severe headache. It is important to recognize these symptoms and seek medical attention immediately, as prompt treatment can help minimize damage to the brain and improve outcomes.
